James is stuck in an endless loop, playing the Dark Souls games on repeat until Elden Ring and Silksong set him free. He's a truffle pig for indie horror and weird FPS games too, seeking out games that actively hurt to play. Otherwise he's wandering Austin, identifying mushrooms and doodling grackles.

Green Shield Workshop is an outfit out of Serbia that specializes in making historically accurate custom weapons and armor, which makes their new venture into case-modding especially surprising. Last year, they experimented with an impressive case mod featuring a plated dragon, but this time, they started from scratch.

Cyborg is a back plate, breastplate, and helmet armor combination handmade entirely out of steel, using techniques new and old. The components are hidden behind the breastplate, which moves in and out at the touch of a button. It’s a neat feature, but in the heat of battle, probably not so useful. I like Cyborg, as strange and impractical as it might be. But real world use cases aren’t a huge priority for the best modders. They live by a single unifying law: if it exists, put a computer in it. Nice work, GSW.

For more information and pictures of GSW’s Cyborg, check out their official build log or watch a timelapse of the build process here.

GSW Cyborg components:
